Projects Internship

This would be similar to an accelerated Project Engineer Trainee process, where the intern would be exposed to all areas of the business.  Time may be spent in our drafting, estimating and production departments, as well as time working on the fabrication shop floor, visiting job sites, and interacting directly with Project Managers and Project Engineers on active projects.  The length of the internship and the specific areas of focus will be based on the school schedule and availability of anyone selected.

Project Engineer Trainees may work with Project staff to:

  • Determine and define scope of work and deliverables.
  • Predict resources needed to complete project.
  • Manage costs in order to meet budget.
  • Provide direction over contracts and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate production schedules and requirements with shop.
  • Manage delivery schedule and activities.
  • Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes.
  • Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled in 4-year degree program in Engineering or a construction related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents, with an emphasis on structural drawings and steel shop drawing is a plus. Additional training in these skills will be provided.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent basic math and algebra skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
