Since 1960, Viking-Cives has manufactured a wide range of truck equipment that makes snowy and icy roads safe for individuals, families, school buses, etc. We specialize in customizing snow and ice removal equipment for heavy municipal, county, and state trucks by installing a variety of specialized equipment. Our new Great Lakes Division is the fourth division in a growing corporation with locations across the United States and Canada.

Job Summary:

As a Welder/Fitter, you will apply mig welding skills to fabricate parts for trucks such as wing plows, front plows, spreaders, dump bodies, and underbody scrapers.  A mindset of continuous improvement and outside the box thinking is important, as we constantly try to better ourselves in every aspect of what we do. What You'll Do As A Welder/Fitter – Hiring for 1st and 2nd shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Fit and tack weld assemblies
  • Operate MIG, and Oxy Acetylene welding equipment and common shop tools such as grinders, sanders, and hydraulic straightening equipment
  • Finish welds and repair parts
  • Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances set forth on drawings
  • Handle heavy materials manually and with overhead cranes in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assist with testing and training new teammates
  • Maintain efficiency and quality standards by completing required checks and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to be a respected, trusted, and reliable professional
  • Training and expertise in mig welding stainless steel
  • Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives is a plus!
  • 2+ years of hands-on fabrication shop experience
  • HS diploma or GED is preferred
  • Preferred consideration for candidates with skilled trades certification
  • Ability to pass a written test
  • Ability to pass a welding skills test
  • A demonstrated ability to adjust, improve, and add to your skillsets  

Schedule:

  • 1st shift: Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • 2nd shift: Monday – Thursday 4:30 pm – 3:00 am
  • Additional hours during the week may be required.
