Shop Tour for Canton High School
Northern Division hosted the Canton High School Agriculture and Technology program for an annual shop and office tour. A couple of our Project staff graduated from Canton and from this program (formerly called Power Mechanics where we learned to weld). NOD provides about a dozen of these tours yearly to local High Schools, Universities, and BOCES programs, which lets us showcase both shop and office positions for local kids looking to stay in the area and apply their technical skills. Project Manager Joe Love and Project Engineer Will Recker (a Canton graduate) took the morning to explain their positions to the students and show them around the shop. It was helpful to have a MLS stadium on the floor now so the kids were able to see some larger fabrication. Welder Mike Rust took the time to teach the student about the sub arc process, and the students were each able to take a turn laying a bead. The tour ended with lunch at a local pizzeria. Thanks to Joe, Will, and Mike for helping out!
